Drawn in Paris, France in the Louvre, July 27, 1952 (journal). To FD, July 29, "I have a little drawing of the high back of the Melos." The back of the shoulders and head of Venus is at top. Below are steps of the rue DrÈvet, Paris, drawn July, 1952. Drawn on board the Tekla Torm, July, 1959. Just above inscription "Sight of Melos" is a stretch of Aegean sea beyond which was island of Melos. Later in 1959 ED drew along the right side the silhouette of the island of Samothrace.
